Selection Criteria

The following criteria will be used to evaluate the applicants and videos:
	subject-matter competence;
	sustained professional growth in science or mathematics and in the art of teaching;
	an understanding of how students learn science or mathematics;
	ability to engage students through a variety of teaching strategies;
	ability to foster curiosity and to generate excitement about the uses of science and mathematics;
	a conviction that all students can learn science and mathematics and a sensitivity to the needs of all students' cultural, linguistic, learning, and social uniqueness;
	an experimental and innovative attitude in their approach to teaching; and
	professional involvement and leadership.
