Eligibility

	Teachers who teach science and or mathematics (K-12) in a public or private school in a state or eligible jurisdiction, and who anticipate a classroom teaching assignment for the following year. (Teachers on approved leave qualify if they have fulfilled the requirements in the previous year.) Only teachers who have not previously received the Presidential Award are eligible.
	Teachers with at least five years K-12 teaching experience in science and/or mathematics prior to application.
	Elementary teachers, assigned at least half-time during the school year to classroom teaching, and who teach mathematics and/or science in a self-contained classroom setting or as teaching specialists.
	Secondary teachers assigned at least half-time during the school year to classroom teaching of science or mathematics.
	Teachers who are full-time employees of their school districts.
